YMCA searching for input on new center’s offerings

By WVUA 23 News Reporter Gracie Fusco

YMCA leaders in Tuscaloosa need your help designing the amenities and program offerings for the new Benjamin Barnes YMCA in West Tuscaloosa, which will soon be moving to a bigger space about a mile away from its current location.

The branch’s new location will be at the McDonald Hughes Center.

YMCA of Tuscaloosa CEO Jeff Knox said that the feedback they’ve gotten so far has been useful, but they want as many responses as they can get.

“At this point, it is heavily on youth programming,” Knox said. “After school, summer camps and mentoring are coming up a lot, which I am excited about because that is what is going to make a difference long term for these kids.”

You can fill out the survey right here.

Responses will be discussed in a public meeting April 28 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the McDonald Hughes Community Center, 3101 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Tuscaloosa.
