YMCA OFFERS SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Even though school’s out for summer, parents and teachers can agree students should study at least a little. The easiest and most enjoyable way to do that? Reading.
The Benjamin Barnes branch of the YMCA is hosting a summer reading program for students from around Tuscaloosa County. Volunteer Elisabeth Kindred said they’re there to help students progress and succeed, but also pray.
“We’re actually able to have fellowship with all of the children and we’re able to pray with them,” she said. And kind of just be there for them and just be kind of a friend and a guidance during the summer.”
If you’d like your child to participate in the program, visit the Benjamin Barnes branch (2939 18th St., Tuscaloosa) to register in person. The reading program is offered year round.
