CORRECTION: A previous version of this story listed World of Beer as coming to the Strip next to Holler and Dash Biscuit House. The restaurant will be located in downtown Tuscaloosa at 2015 University Blvd. next to Moe’s Original BBQ, just down from the Tuscaloosa Federal Building and Courthouse.

More jobs are coming to Tuscaloosa County, thanks to several new developments in town and around. Here’s the rundown:

The City of Tuscaloosa is welcoming a $1.2 million development in downtown Tuscaloosa — World of Beer is coming to University Boulevard next to Moe’s Original BBQ, across 21st Avenue from the Tuscaloosa Federal Building and Courthouse.

World of Beer owner Justin Toomey said the decision was a no-brainer.

“I took a tour of the property and the town and saw a bunch of other properties, and this once just made the most sense,” he said.

The restaurant features more than 50 beers on tap, and more than 500 more bottled options, along with pub-style food including bratwurst and sliders.

About 50 jobs will be up for grabs before they open.

And on Tuesday, the Tuscaloosa City Council gave the OK for 64 luxury condos to replace Stadium Apartments just across the street from Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Westgate Residences will be located between the corners or Eighth Street, Wallace Wade Avenue and Frank Thomas Avenue.

Condos start at $415,000 for a one-bedroom to more than $1 million for five bedrooms, with 170 units total.

District 4 City Councilman Matt Calderone said it’s a desirable location. Calderone said in the past year alone there’s been about $100 million in private investments in District 4.
