WORKSHOP OFFERS HELP FOR JOB-SEEKERS OLDER THAN 50

PICKENS COUNTY – If you’re over 50 and searching for a job, a workshop Thursday at Bevill State Community College in Carrolton wants to help.

The Back to Work program helps those 50 and older who are unemployed or underemployed find relevant work, and offers tools to help job-seekers get ready for a job.

Back to Work Coordinator Rick Watson said the workshop offers one-on-one coaching, which helps evaluate job-seekers and helps them determine which jobs they’re a good match for in the area.

Training is also available for those who qualify.

Watson said several challenges plague many job-seekers older than 50, and their age is just one of them. Another large challenge many older job-seekers have issues with is learning the computer skills most jobs these days require.

The free workshop is Thursday from 1 to 3 p.m.
