Wood at Lawn Mower Store in Centreville Catches Fire, Causes Little Damage
Yet another fire in Bibb County’s Centreville happened over the weekend, the sixth in just two weeks.
The latest blaze happened at lawn mower store Randolph and Randolph, located at 451 Mill St.
Centreville Fire Chief Mickey Barton said he got a call Sunday afternoon about the fire, which rose quickly from a pile of wood.
“This is very rare,” Barton said. “We’ve had sporadic fires in the past. But this is kind of coincidental that we’ve had this many here.”
Centreville Mayor Mike Oakley said the only thing damaged was the wood, and the blaze got put out before it could spread to any neighboring properties or homes.
The cause of the fire is not yet known, Barton said.
