WOMAN FACING CHARGES AFTER ATTACKING MAN WITH A KNIFE

A Tuscaloosa woman is behind bars after being accused of attacking a man who let her stay in his apartment.

Police said they were called Saturday around 11:30 p.m. to Brookhaven Apartments on James I. Harrison Parkway.

Once officers arrived, they found the 37-year-old victim, who’d been sliced with a knife in the chest, fingers and ear. The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for his non life-threatening injuries.

The victim told police he’d allowed the suspect, 43-year-old Chawanda Charles, to stay at his apartment for the past few days, but she got upset when he told her to leave.

Charles was charged with second-degree assault and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
