Woman dies in Tuscaloosa County wreck Saturday

A Vestavia Hills woman is dead in the wake of a single-vehicle crash in Coaling Saturday evening.

The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on Interstate 59 near the 81-mile marker, about 1 mile north of Coaling in Tuscaloosa County.

Jamya S. Tate, 21, was fatally injured when the sedan she was driving ran off the road, smashed into several trees and crashed into a ditch.

Tate, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the cause of the wreck.
