Woman charged with attempted murder after weekend shooting

A 61-year-old woman is facing attempted murder charges after an early Saturday shooting in Northport.

Northport Police were called to Meadow Lake Drive around 2 a.m. Saturday, where they found a man who’d been shot. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.

Investigators detailed Jerri Denise Pate while the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

During their investigation, it was determined that the victim and suspect had previously been married and spent the evening at a local bar.

After returning to the home on Meadow Lake Drive, they got into an argument during which Pate is accused of shooting the victim.

Pate was charged with one count of attempted murder and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail. Her bond will be set by the courts.
