A Tuscaloosa woman was arrested at University Mall last week after assaulting a police officer.

Court records show 20-year-old Jateeya Martin attacked a Tuscaloosa Police Officer at the Applebee’s restaurant inside University Mall Sunday after she was fired.

Police were called because Martin refused to leave the restaurant or the mall.

According to the court documents, Martin became violent when the officer tried to arrest her for obstruction of government operations. She pushed him into a table and chairs, and also kicked and punched the officer before she was arrested.

The officer sustained minor injuries.

She’s been charged with obstructing governmental operations (a misdemeanor), second-degree possession of marijuana (a misdemeanor) and felony second-degree assault.
