WOMAN AIRLIFTED TO BIRMINGHAM AFTER HIGHWAY 216 WRECK IN BROOKWOOD
A woman was airlifted to UAB Medical Center after a single-vehicle wreck on Highway 216 in Brookwood this morning.
Brookwood Fire Department officials said it happened around the 17 1/2 mile marker, when the driver, who was heading east-bound, lost control and hit a tree.
Officials said she injured her leg in the wreck, and her engine caught fire. A passerby stopped and managed to put the fire out with an extinguisher.
The woman’s condition is unknown.
