Who should be Auburn’s next football coach? Fans, players weigh in

Auburn University on Monday announced the release of head football coach Bryan Harsin after less than two seasons with the Tigers.

There has been a lot of speculation about who will replace Harsin.

Many Alabama fans and former players offered up some suggestions Monday afternoon.

“I wanted them to keep him because he couldn’t win,” said Crimson Tide fan Nick Snead. “It would have been nice to beat them every year. I think the question of who they are going to get scares me for Auburn and Alabama’s future.”

Former Alabama football players Christion Jones and Blake Sims also dropped a few names into the hat.

“Whoever steps in has to be ready for the pressure that awaits them,” Jones said. “But me personally, I do not know. I don’t have a clue. I’ve heard Bill O’Brien and I have heard Lane Kiffin.”

Ole Miss head football coach Lane Kiffin has been a constant name used, especially with the current success he’s had in Mississippi.

“I’ve heard a couple of names,” Sims said. “I’ve heard Lane’s in it. I wouldn’t see why Lane wouldn’t go there. I can also see Deion Sanders. I can see primetime getting that job and him starting a new course in his life and getting a new opportunity.”

Harsin finished his last season with the Tigers with a 3-5 record.
