What’s up with the 15th and McFarland gas station? Demolishing orders tabled yet again
Tuscaloosans who have long awaited an answer to what’s happening with a former gas station at the corner of 15th Street and McFarland Boulevard will have to wait a little longer.
The Tuscaloosa City Council on Tuesday once again tabled a vote on demolishing the former Quik Mart at one of the city’s most prominent intersections. It’s the second time the council has tabled the same order after proposing the city demolish the building in February. The order was tabled then until April. In April it was tabled until June. Now it’s tabled until Aug. 29.
The building was listed for sale in December, and since then it’s undergone a slate of cleanup and mitigation efforts.
The owner of the building was not present at Tuesday’s meeting.
