WESTLAWN MIDDLE TEACHER WINS OUTSTANDING ALABAMA TEACHER AWARD

A seventh-grade science teacher at Westlawn Middle School and Tuscaloosa City Schools ambassador is being honored for her contributions to the system and her students.

Amber Emerson was recently selected as the 2019 Outstanding Alabama Middle School Science Teacher by the Alabama Science Teachers Association.

“I truly love the Tuscaloosa City Schools and I love my students,” Emerson said. “I do it all for them. Without them, I couldn’t be told that I was outstanding. They’re the ones that make me outstanding, so I thank you fro valuing me and appreciating me tonight, and just thank you.”

Emerson also received $1,000 award at the 2019 ASTA Conference in November. The honor recognizes and awards various teachers, district directors, industries and other individuals who have demonstrated outstanding understanding qualities and contributions to science education in Alabama annually.
