WEST ALABAMA HOSPITALS RECEIVE GOOD SAFETY RATINGS

A watchdog group called Hospital Safety Score has given good marks to some West Alabama’s hospitals.

The ratings are based on how safe the hospitals keep their patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections, according to the group’s website.

Both DCH Regional Medical Center and Northport Medical Center scored a B rating. Jasper’s Walker Baptist Medical Center scored an A.

Several other area hospitals, such as Fayette and Demopolis, were not rated.

The Hospital Safety Score was created by the Leapfrog Group, which according to its website is an independent, national, not-for-profit organization founded more than a decade ago by the nation’s leading employers and private health care experts.
