Weekly gas roundup: Prices rise less than a penny over past week
Average gas prices in Alabama rose 0.8 cents a gallon over the past week, up to an average of $3.39 a gallon as of Monday, according to GasBuddy‘s survey of 3,348 gas stations in Alabama.
That’s 4.3 cents lower than this time last month and 3.2 cents higher than this time last year.
Nationally, prices fell 1.2 cents a gallon, down to an average of $3.77. The national average price of diesel rose 9.6 cents a gallon over the past week, up to an average of $4.43 a gallon.
“The national average fell to its lowest level since July ahead of Labor Day, even as oil prices rose last week to the highest level since last November,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “In addition, Hurricane Idalia steered well clear of significant energy infrastructure, leading to zero impact to gas prices.”
