Average gasoline prices in Alabama fell 9.7 cents per gallon over the past week, down to an average of $3.09 a gallon, according to GasBuddy‘s survey of 3,348 gas stations in Alabama.

Prices in Alabama are 9.8 cents higher than they were this time last month and 12 cents per gallon lower than this time last year.

Nationally, the average price of gas fell 7.3 cents over the past week, down to an average of $3.37 a gallon as of Monday. The national average price of diesel fell 7.3 cents over the past week, down to an average of $4.53 a gallon. That’s the lowest it’s been since March 5, 2022.

“For a second straight week, the national average price of gasoline has declined, alongside the price of diesel which has fallen to its lowest level in nearly a year,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “While diesel prices likely have a long way to fall as inventories continue to improve, gasoline prices in some areas have gone up in the last weeks as the transition to summer gasoline is just around the corner.”

De Haan said GasBuddy data shows gasoline demand rose for the third straight week, and that trend will likely continue as temperatures warm.

“On average, gasoline prices rise between 35 and 85 cents per gallon between March and Memorial Day, so motorists seeing prices fall should enjoy the declines while they last,” De Haan said.

According to GasBuddy price reports:

  • The cheapest station in Alabama was priced at $2.48 a gallon as of Sunday
  • The most expensive station in Alabama was priced at $3.79 a gallon as of Sunday
