Average gasoline prices in Alabama fell 7.7 cents per gallon over the past week, down to an average of $3.09 as of Monday, according to GasBuddy‘s survey of 3,348 gas stations in Alabama.

Prices in Alabama are 17.2 cents a gallon lower than this time last month and 93.2 cents per gallon lower than this time last year.

Nationally, prices fell 7.5 cents a gallon, down to an average of $3.50. The national average price for a gallon of diesel fell 6.3 cents, down to an average of $4.01 a gallon.

“For the third straight week, consumers have been greeted by falling gasoline prices across a majority of the country, thanks to oil prices holding near recent lows and the transition to summer gasoline being essentially complete,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “In addition to gasoline prices declining, the average price of a gallon of diesel will join gasoline in the days ahead, falling below $4 per gallon in the next 48 hours or so. Americans are spending hundreds of millions less on fuel every week compared to a year ago, and that’s a number that could rise further as prices are poised to continue trending lower this week.”

According to GasBuddy price reports:

  • The cheapest gas station in Alabama was priced at $2.75 a gallon as of Sunday
  • The most expensive gas station in Alabama was priced at $3.69 a gallon as of Sunday.
