WANNA LEARN A NEW SPORT? YOU CAN PLAY PICKLEBALL IN TUSCALOOSA

Pickle Ball

It might have a funny name, but pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the U.S. And Tuscaloosa is no exception.

The game combines elements of tennis, ping pong and badminton and can be played with two to four players. It’s a cheap, fun and easy way to stay active no matter your age, said Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority Public Relations and Marketing Manager Becky Booker.

It’s played with paddles bigger than ping pong paddles but smaller than a tennis racket and a ball with holes in it, similar to a whiffle ball.

PARA partnered with the U.S.A. Pickleball Association to start a program in Tuscaloosa, and courts are available at the McAbee Center and the Phelps Center during specific hours.
