Alabama Power Foundation presented four Walker County organizations with Good Roots Grants.

This was held at the Walker County Courthouse lawn Wednesday afternoon.

Four local organizations were presented with checks from the Alabama Power Foundation for its Good Roots program.

These organizations include, the City of Jasper, Walker County Arts Alliance, Inc. and Walker County Coalition for the Homeless.

The foundation’s purpose is to help cities revitalize the communities around them by adding to their green thumb.

“Pretty much all of this money has gone to the purchase of trees, matter of fact, we have just received a significant shipment of trees that are being planted as we speak to my left, and this money will flow there to defray the cost,” David O’Mary, mayor of Jasper, said.

In partnership with the Alabama Forestry Commission and the Alabama Urban Forestry Association, the Alabama Power foundation provides Good Roots grants of up to $1,000.
