WALKER COUNTY NONPROFIT TO HOST FUNDRAISER LUNCHEON FOR FAMILIES AFFLICTED WITH CANCER

In the spirit of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, one nonprofit organization in walker county is raising money to help local folks.

Hands of Hope is getting ready for its annual fundraising luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 2 at Westside Baptist Church in Jasper. All of the money raised goes directly to support people in Walker County who are dealing with the challenges that come when a loved one is diagnosed with cancer.

Hands of Hope’s Gwinna Boyd said the money raised can make a huge difference in simply helping to pay bills.

“Keep their gas on, where they can at least still cook, you know, that’s a need. That’s a huge need for a family when they’re going through something,” she said. “They don’t need to worry about the things, the necessary things of life like to eat, to bath and clean, medicine, you know, they just need to concentrate on getting well.”

Tickets are $25 dollars. To get one, call Hands of Hope at 205-302-2342.
