A Walker County volunteer firefighter is facing felony charges after being accused of starting a fire so he could respond and put it out.

As first reported in the Tuscaloosa Patch, Rodney Olin Morgan, 47, is accused of igniting a brush fire on March 6 in Quinton, then responding to it as a member of the Yerkwood Volunteer Fire Department, according to the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office.

Morgan turned himself in to Walker County authorities and was released on a $7,500 dollar bond last week.
