VIRTUAL CONCERT FUNDRAISER WAS SUCH A SUCCESS, IT’S HAPPENING AGAIN
After the first was such a hit, the city of Tuscaloosa is hosting another virtual concert this Friday.
Southern Avenue, a five-piece combo from Memphis who garnered a 2020 Grammy nomination will be performing.
The first virtual concert raised money for the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama’s Small Business Relief Fund, and Friday’s concert is doing the same.
“We raised almost $5,000 for the Small Business Relief Fund,” said Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission CEO and President Don Staley. “I think we had almost 28,000 views from the event, so in all I think it went very well.”
The best thing about the event was putting a smile on people’s faces, Staley said.
The concert will stream on the Visit Tuscaloosa Facebook page starting Friday at 7 p.m. WVUA 23’s Chelsea Barton will once again be emceeing the event.
