VALENTINE KING AND QUEEN ARE CROWNED AT GLEN HAVEN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY
There were Valentine’s decorations galore at Glen Haven Retirement Community on Feb. 14 as the facility crowned the Valentine King and Queen at a festive afternoon party.
The large crowd gave a round of applause to 99-year-old James Haggerty, a World War II veteran. He was the king for a day. And, Wilma O’Rourke was chosen to be Haggerty’s queen. She said she is thankful for her long and happy life.
“It’s a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful life,” O’Rourke said. “And you’ll enjoy every moment of it, honestly.”
Valentine’s Day takes its name from Saint Valentine of Rome. He ministered to Christians until the third century A.D. at a time when Christians were persecuted.
