US Honor Flag rests with fallen Bibb County deputy

Funeral arrangements have been made for fallen Bibb County Deputy Brad Johnson.

It’s been almost one week since Johnson was killed in the line of duty while responding to a stolen vehicle call.

On Tuesday, Bibb County Sheriff Jody Wade said Johnson will be laid to rest Friday, July 8. A public visitation and memorial service will be held at the University of Montevallo’s Student Activity Center.

A private burial will be held after the service.

Until then, the U.S. Honor Flag is resting with Johnson’s body.

Honor Flag President Chris Heisler said this flag represents those who died for their communities.

“This single, American flag has flown in the recovery efforts at Ground Zero,” Heisler said. “Since then, it has been to more than 1,000 funerals for fallen police officers, firefighters and soldiers. It is sitting right next to Brad right now and it will stay with him until Friday.”
