UPDATE: DCH SYSTEMS COMING BACK ONLINE
After an incident last week left DCH Health System without a large chunk of its operating abilities, the three hospital locations affected are coming back online.
Last Tuesday, all three DCH Health System hospitals in Tuscaloosa, Northport and Fayette stopped accepting new patients after the hospital discovered ransomware infected their computer network.
Over the weekend, hospital officials released a statement saying they obtained a decryption key and are working on restoring access to the systems.
But DCH Health System’s Brad Fisher said patients’ care was never compromised.
“We had gone back to paper charting, as our IT guys work around the clock to rebuild the system itself,” Fisher said.
At this time, DCH is still diverting all but the most critical patients.
