The University of Alabama Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened Sunday at 3 a.m. on Colonial Drive, near Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Police said the suspect approached the victim and demanded money by threatening them with a box cutter.

The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a male in his early 40s with dark complexion, wearing a blue shirt with gray pants.

In an email sent out to students, police said students should always be mindful of their surroundings. It’s a sentiment many students said they’re already well acquainted with.

“When I’m walking at night, I always try to look for the blue (police call) boxes and make sure I know where the nearest one is should I need to quickly get in touch with campus police,” said UA student Maggie Schneider.

Schneider said she usually lets a friend know where she plans to go and where she is, along with when she’s expecting she’ll be home.

If you have any information about the incident call UAPD at 205-348-5454.
