Several student groups at the University of Alabama joined hands Monday in hosting in a candlelight vigil to honor those killed and injured at the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting.

Each victim’s name was read during the vigil on the steps of Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library, and members of the public signed a poster to show their support for Orlando and the LGBT community.

“It’s so important to give students and faculty a place where they can grieve together and stand together and show their pride,” said participant Avery Smith.
