UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA PREPARES FOR FLU SEASON WITH TRAINING

The University of Alabama is preparing for the worst when it comes to a public health emergency.

UA conducted Point of Dispensing training today at Coleman Coliseum. If there is an infectious illness, like the flu, that can be combated or prevented by medication, training like this helps prepare the university to be a place where students, faculty and staff can receive that medication.

“So most people have fears based on myths, you know, ‘That I am going to get the flu if I get the flu shot or I don’t need it,’ so those are things we try to dispell,” Pamela Foster, professor of community medicine at the university, said. “Most vaccines give you some kind of symptoms, usually very mild.”

Today’s training at UA focused specifically on holding flu vaccine clinics.
