Unity Day events return today after 2021 hiatus

Unity Day, celebrating the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., is returning in Tuscaloosa today after a hiatus because of COVID-19 last year.

Events kick off at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, 3100 25th St., with entertainment and food. The Unity Day Walk begins at noon and ends at Tuscaloosa City Hall, 2201 University Blvd.

The celebration concludes with a mass rally at 5 p.m. at First African Baptist Church, 2621 Stillman Blvd.

Organizers encourage participants to follow COVID-19 guidelines, including wearing masks and social distancing.
