United Way of West Alabama’s annual major fundraiser is now underway.

UWWA held a kickoff luncheon on Aug. 13 in the Bryant Conference Center. This year’s goal is to raise $4.2 million. That money will help fund programs and activities at dozens of nonprofits across our part of the state, like the Girl Scouts, Boys and Girls Club, the Good Samaritan Clinic and many others.

In 2017, roughly 90 cents out of every dollar donated to UWWA went to one of its partner agencies, like Habitat for Humanity.

“Personally, I have witnessed Arts and Autism,” said Norman crow, the chairman of UWWA’s campaign. “It’s a great way to help our children that are struggling with autism, and as they get older, to be able to provide programs for them to live productive lives in society.”
