United Way kicks off annual fundraising campaign

Businesses and nonprofits from around West Alabama gathered at the Bryant Conference Center in Tuscaloosa Tuesday for the United Way of West Alabama‘s annual campaign kickoff.
This year’s campaign goal? $4,375,000.
The United Way helps ensure residents around West Alabama have better resources through partnering with local agencies.
Money raised goes to support 26 nonprofits throughout West Alabama, including the American Red Cross, Salvation Army and Temporary Emergency Services. You can check out everyone they support right here.
United Way Campaign Chair Jheovanny Gomez said donations help a lot more people than you’d think.
“One out of four West Alabamians are impacted by United Way through its partner agencies,” Gomez said. “United Way makes such a huge impact and it’s so important that we support them.”
