UAB CREATES RESOURCE, RESEARCH WEBSITE TO HELP STOP COVID-19
Staying home most, or all of the time can wear on you. You might feel like there’s nothing you can do to help fight the COVID-19 virus.
But, UAB has created a website, HelpBeatCOVID19.org. The online survey gets critical information to researchers without filling up already crowded emergency rooms with people with minimal symptoms. And, most importantly, it gets information to them from all parts of Alabama.
“One thing that is nice about to help beat COVID-19 is, in addition to collecting information so that we can look at the surveillance, we also provide information to people who come to the website. By providing this information, what we hope will happen is that it will keep people out of the emergency department, thereby decreasing the utilization of very valuable resources,” said Dr. Sue Feldman of UAB’s school of health professionals.
The survey begins with a simple question: “Are you healthy or are you sick?” Then the entire survey takes three to five minutes. Those few minutes might play an important part in the effort to stop the virus.
