TWO TEENS ARRESTED, CHARGED WITH CAPITAL MURDER IN APARTMENT SHOOTING

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit arrested and charged two teenagers after a fatal shooting earlier this week.

Christopher Fountain was found dead in Woodlawn Manor Apartments having been shot multiple times Sept. 18 around 11:30 p.m. The VCU talked to several witnesses and was able to identify two suspects. They were located and taken into custody Friday. Investigators learned this happened during a robbery and there is no connection between the victim and the suspects.

Sixteen-year-old Javaris Delshon Hughes and 17-year-old Yqwain Malik Hawkins are charged with capital murder. Despite being under 18 years of age, both have previously been charged with violent crimes as adults. Since the murder of the victim occurred while committing a robbery, the charge is capital murder. They were taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail around 5:30 p.m. Friday.
