MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – The city of Montgomery and Tuskegee University have teamed up to create an outdoor classroom for urban agriculture.

News outlets report the Tuskegee University Urban Agriculture Center was officially announced Tuesday.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed says the city’s goal is to increase access to fresh and healthy foods.

The center will be located on Mobile Street.

City leaders say the center could be the cornerstone for revitalization in the area, which saw a historic march from Selma to Montgomery during the civil rights movement.
