Tuscaloosa residents honored the memory of fallen investigator Dornell Cousette with a memorial ride on Monday. Cousette was killed in the line of duty on September 16, 2019, while serving a warrant.

Cousette’s memorial was part of a 30-state tour held by the organization “The End of Watch Ride.”

The group is visiting all 146 law enforcement agencies that had an officer die in the line of duty in 2019. Monday was day 28 of their 68-day journey.

The celebration of life includes a motorcycle parade that follows behind a 28-foot trailer with graphics depicting the fallen officers and their agencies.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox attended the memorial. He said that despite national outcry against police brutality, community members still recognize police officer’s sacrifice.

Maddox said, “Remember the voices that deeply appreciate and understand the sacrifices you make every single day.”
