TUSCALOOSANS GATHER, PRAY FOR COMMUNITY

An entire community came together Monday night to pray for the city Of Tuscaloosa.

Members of the Tuscaloosa community gathered at Bethel Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, sharing their hopes for a healed city.

“A lot of times a lot of young people don’t really understand what’s really going on,” said Dr. Cassandra Blackburn. “They just need to see what prayer can do.”

Bethel Baptist Church Pastor Schmitt Moore said the citywide prayer group is sponsored by the Tuscaloosa Prayer Network and the Tuscaloosa Ministerial Alliance.

Moore said this year is more about family.

“That includes covering for our children,” Moore said. “I think all of it starts with a good strong family. We’re also concerned about corruption in our city all across the board”

In 2019, the city of Tuscaloosa had the highest murder rate since 2016.

“I think we need to go to the higher power in prayer,” said District 7 City Councilwoman Sonya McKinstry. “I think that He can always find a way to help us find a solution.”
