Tuscaloosa Zone Pilot Program focused on neighbors helping neighbors

A new local group wants to spread a message of hope and compassion in Tuscaloosa.

The Tuscaloosa Zone Pilot Program is focused on neighbors helping neighbors, and so far the group has gotten support from Tuscaloosa City Schools, Shelton State Community College, local businesses, faith organizations and residents who are committed to improving the city.

Their goal is a holistic approach addressing the residential workforce, housing, education, food and health.

Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Mike Daria said when communities work together, they can accomplish more than on their own.

“This community believes, I think, that when we work together to benefit our fellow community members, we all benefit,” Daria said. “Because when any member of our community is lifted, it lifts the entire community.”

The program is still looking for support from individuals and companies to make the group even better.
