By WVUA 23 News Reporter Whitney Leibold

Demand for COVID-19 tests isn’t dropping any time soon, but veterans in Tuscaloosa have a quick, effective option when they find themselves needing one. The Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center is offering free drive-thru COVID-19 testing for veterans, no appointments required.

Drive-up tests are available Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon at the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, 3701 Loop Road E. in Tuscaloosa.

“Here at Tuscaloosa VA we have decided in effort to improve safety for our veterans as well as for the staff, we felt that a drive-thru opportunity for COVID testing would be a really good, ideal thing for everybody to have” said VA Chief Associate of Staff Devin Handley.

If you are a veteran but are not already enrolled at the Tuscaloosa VAMC, you must be enrolled in order to get tested. You can learn more about getting enrolled right here.

Testing is available after noon through the veterans’ sick call clinic, Handley said.
