Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports is keeping its president and CEO for another three years.

Don Staley has served in his present capacity since 2017. During that time span, Staley and TTS have been instrumental in recruiting and bringing events to Tuscaloosa, as well as supporting events like Tuscaloosa’s bicentennial in 2019. Under Staley’s leadership, the Druid City Music Festival was created. The team also increased promotion of the Tuscaloosa Civil Rights Trail.

In 2007, Staley helped create the Tuscaloosa Sports Foundation. This organization lured the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Super Six High School Football Championships to Bryant-Denny Stadium in 2009. Working with the AHSAA and Auburn, the championship has alternated sites each year, between Auburn University and the University of Alabama. The event attracts thousands of fans to Tuscaloosa, and serves as a major revenue producer for the city.

“I truly believe TTS is poised for continued success guided by our engaged board of directors,” Staley said, “our professional staff and outstanding community partners and I look forward to continuing those collaborations moving forward.”
