TUSCALOOSA TORNADO SHELTERS ARE OPEN

According to Tuscaloosa spokesperson Deidre Stalnaker,  the City of Tuscaloosa has opened tornado shelters out of an abundance of caution. Conditions indicate that severe storms could develop until midnight. Severe storms could produce tornadoes and we encourage our residents to be alert and make appropriate plans.

Shelters are located at:

– University Place Elementary School, 2000 1st Ave.;

– Tuscaloosa Career and Technology Academy, 2800 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd;

– Tuscaloosa Magnet/Elementary School, 315 McFarland Blvd East;

– The Alberta School of Performing Arts, 2700 University Blvd. East.

The Salvation Army, 2902 Greensboro Ave., is also available as a shelter.

Pets are not allowed in the shelters.
