Like a number of other communities in West Alabama, Tuscaloosa’s Parkview neighborhood at 15th Street and Parkview Drive found itself underwater Saturday.

Residents rushed to get their cars off of the street or out of their driveway as water began creeping higher and higher, over the curb and into yards and homes.

Parkview resident Paul Tschurtz said he and his roommates noticed their front and back yards were flooding around noon.

“We were in our living room, and we looked outside, and it was a little bit of water,” he said. “And we were like, ‘aww, this always happens; we always have to move our cars.’ And then we went inside and played with the dog a little bit and then looked outside and the water was extremely high.”

Tschurtz said their home seems fine so far, but most of the garbage around the neighborhood got swept off the streets and into his backyard.
