On Friday, the Tuscaloosa Civitan Club and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama is hosting the 83rd annual Tuscaloosa County Citizen of the Year Banquet at the Indian Hills Country Club.

This historical award recognizes good citizenship within the community.

This years recipient is Judy Holland, who works with High Socks for Hope.

“It recognizes good citizenship that needs to be applauded and she’s been a great citizen to this county and the city,” said Stuart Hartley, the Immediate Past President of the Civitan Club. “High Socks for Hope, which is David and Erin Robertson’s charity. David plays for the Chicago White Sox. They’ve helped Hurricane Sandy victims, tornado victims in Illinois and obviously tornado victims in Tuscaloosa.”

Banquet tickets are $25 and can be purchased by phone at 205-764-2203 or at Morrison and Smith on University Boulevard.
