While the U.S. has seen a decline in manufacturing jobs over the past 50 years, it’s making a comeback in some parts of the country, Tuscaloosa included.
Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama Chief Operating Officer Donnie Jones said Tuscaloosa’s high ranking is a direct result of the area’s business cooperation.
“Our city, our county, all of our community have been working together to grow our manufacturing base and now you’re seeing the fruits of that,” Jones said. “So more people are moving into Tuscaloosa, we’re seeing people that are moving from up north to Tuscaloosa, to Alabama to live and do business. And so it’s a great time for us to celebrate the positives that are taking place in our great community.”
Huntsville ranked No. 6 on the list.
