After a year away from University of Alabama homecoming festivities, local law enforcement agencies are ensuring this year’s events are safe with an increased police presence around town.

TPD Deputy Chief Sebo Sanders said the Strip just off the UA campus will have a heavy police presence and loitering rules will be enforced.

“That’s something we do at every ball game to make sure people feel safe,” Sanders said. “Also it deters crime and criminals when they see a police presence.”

Sanders said it’s important they step up patrols during times when there are more people in town so everyone can enjoy the game and weekend activities.

“We want everything to run smoothly,” he said. “We want Tuscaloosa to be one of the safest places people can come visit, especially when there is an SEC game like this. If you see something, report it. If you hear something, report it.”
