Tuscaloosa police investigating vehicle vandalism

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a rash of overnight vehicle break-ins reported at apartment complexes across the city.

As of Wednesday afternoon, TPD had received reports of at least four break-ins in the parking deck of a complex in the 2300 block of Jack Warner Parkway. An additional six were reported in the 400 block of 16th Street East and 17th Street East. Eight were reported at apartments in the 100 block of Rice Mine Road North.

In most cases, offenders broke the windows of vehicles to gain entry. This is unusual because unlocked vehicles are usually targeted. Investigators believe the break-ins occurred during the early morning hours Wednesday.

Anyone who lives in these areas who has a home surveillance camera should review their footage between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. for any suspicious activity that could assist with these investigations.

Anyone with information can contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 205-248-4520.
