TUSCALOOSA POLICE DEPARTMENT CHIEF ANDERSON TO RETIRE

WVUA 23 has confirmed Tuscaloosa Police Chief Steve Anderson will retire Aug 30, 2019. We’re told Anderson is going to take a position with the University of Alabama Systems Office handling security.

Anderson became a police officer here at Tuscaloosa Police Department in 1994 and was named TPD Chief of Police in 2008.

Mayor Walt Maddox has called a press conference for 9:00 am Wednesday where it is expected he will make the official announcement.

Mitt Tubbs will take over as acting chief when Anderson leaves.
