TUSCALOOSA POLICE ARREST MAN AFTER FURNITURE STORE BREAK-IN

A Tuscaloosa man is behind bars after being accused of breaking into a furniture store in downtown Tuscaloosa early Tuesday.

Tuscaloosa Police said it happened around 4:20 a.m. at Capital Park Interiors, 2701 University Blvd.

The owner told police he’d been notified that his alarm was having trouble, and because of recent burglaries, he went there himself to check the alarm. When the owner arrived, he found someone still inside and called police.

Upon police arrival, the suspect ran away from the business, but was soon apprehended. David Heath Griffin, 47, was arrested, charged with third-degree burglary and placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 bond.

Police said there are other pending cases against Griffin, and at the time of his current arrest, he was out on bond on a receiving stolen property charge.
