TUSCALOOSA HOSTS ANNUAL HAZARDOUS WASTE DAY

Hazardous Waste Day

Tuscaloosa held its annual hazardous waste day Saturday and resident from all over the county came to dispose of their toxic waste in a safe manner.

“What we’re looking for today are light bulbs, old paints, pesticides, propane tanks, car batteries, any kind of batteries that are around your house that say corrosive or flammable, or dangerous, or toxic,” Tuscaloosa’s environmental educator Ashley Chambers said. “We don’t want those kinds of chemicals getting in the wrong hands, we also don’t want them getting out into the environment.”

Chambers said that this year’s turnout was an even greater success compared to last year.
