TUSCALOOSA HALF MARATHON IS THIS WEEKEND
The fifth annual Tuscaloosa Half Marathon is set for this weekend.
Runners can take the 13.1-mile half marathon, but there’s also a 5K option for those who aren’t quite as athletic.
Both starting lines begin at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater and finish along the Tuscaloosa RiverWalk.
The Tuscaloosa Half Marathon invests its yearly proceeds into the local community. This year’s fundraising goes to the the Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa, ReadBAMARead and Arts ‘N Autism.
Debbie Glass with Arts ‘N Autism said there’s a new component to this year’s race: A Race Expo Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m.
“To see the community come together, from volunteers and runners to sponsors, it’s a good thing,” said Matt Hood with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa. “It’s a great thing.”
The half marathon and 5K begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater. Registration is open until start time, and will be available on-site beginning at 6 a.m. The half marathon costs $90, and the 5K is $30.
