TUSCALOOSA FAMILIES LACE UP THEIR SKATES TO PROMOTE FITNESS

By WVUA 23 Reporter Kayla Smith

Druid City Derby and UA Wellness and Work Life partnered to host a skate night at Super Skate in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday.

The event advocated family-friendly fitness activities. Skaters of all ages participated in the activities.

UA Wellness and Work Life hosted a toiletry drive during the event. The donations will stock the UA pantry that assists students in need.

“Toiletries are expensive, everybody needs them, and this is just an opportunity for us to help out students out who are struggling because they’re on fixed incomes,” MacVicar said.

“A lot of them can’t work; they’re studying, so this is our way to support them.”

Druid City Derby intends to continue hosting fitness-related events. The group will host a skate fitness bootcamp at the beginning of January. If you would like more information, visit the Druid City Derby Facebook page.
